in order to reduce CO2 emissions at all Chrysler Group LLC plants, we are striving to use energy as efficiently as possible, as well as employing low-carbon energy sources wherever possible.
This is the difference our manufacturing facilities are making:
- Reduced absolute CO2 emissions by more than 17 percent from 2002 to 2006
- Decreased greenhouse gas emissions per vehicle by 5 percent
- Vehicle Recycling Partnership – reusing materials recovered from end of life vehicles in new automotive applications, as fuel, or in other types of consumer products
- Reduced annual energy usage by more than 18 percent from 2002 levels in North American facilities
- In 2006, consumed 15 percent less energy per vehicle produced than in 2002
Plant Standards
Chrysler Group LLC facilities have earned certification to the ISO 14001:2004 standards, establishing an environmental management system to support continuous improvement in the environmental performance of all facilities. Here are two significant strides:
- Newark, Delaware, Assembly Plant and the Global Engine Manufacturing Alliance (GEMA) in Dundee, Michigan, have zero-waste-to-landfill status
- Mexico manufacturing facilities are zero wastewater discharge facilities. At the three facilities, treated sanitary wastewater is used for irrigation, while treated process wastewater is returned back to the manufacturing processes. These voluntary initiatives are helping to preserve the region's scarce water resources.
Smarter Materials
Chrysler Group LLC is committed to reducing the different types of plastics used in their vehicles, eliminating harmful substances and increasing the recycled material content in vehicles.
