No Diesel Exhaust Fluid

Cummins Turbo Diesel-equipped Ram trucks are the only heavy-duty pickups to meet 50-state 2010 EPA emissions regulations with an engine and aftertreatment system without the need for Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF).

The Cummins Turbo Diesel engine has an advanced diesel exhaust emissions aftertreatment system. Ram truck’s exclusive use of this diesel particulate filter (DPF) and an absorber catalyst reduces oxides of nitrogen (NOx) by as much as 90 percent.

DPF technology offers customers a less complicated, lower maintenance - and most importantly - less costly alternative to the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF / urea-based) treatment systems required by other diesel pickup manufacturers.

800 lb.-ft. of Torque

The 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel generates between 610 and an unsurpassed 800 lb.-ft. of torque and between 305 and 350 horsepower, depending on transmission and truck model, and meets virtually every need for towing, hauling and responsive acceleration.

The available High Output Cummins Turbo Diesel engine helps properly equipped Ram 3500 Heavy Duty trucks achieve outright class supremacy in trailer towing at 22,700-lb. maximum trailer weight.^*
